I sure do wish I lived closer to Denver! The Natural Living Expo is happening there on October 25th and I would love to be able to go. The place is going to be filled with incredible speakers with great ideas and tips about going natural. They will be offering workshops, six different keynote speakers and over 50 exhibits covering nutrition, green living, personal improvement, health, fitness, managing stress, creative expression and much more. Some of the workshops they are holding will be wonderful I am sure like the one on stress or the one about sugar being the most addicting thing in the world, which from experience, I totally agree with! For only seven bucks to get in, heads up Denver, don’t miss this one!

Well, I thought I was pretty in touch with the whole “Green” thing but this article I found about common Green Myths is awesome. For example, ever heard of vampire power? Strangely enough this is not a Halloween thing at all but it is the power that a piece of equipment, such as a computer, continues to use after it has been turned off. There is also a great point in this article about how critical it is to not only eat organic, but local organic is best. If it isn’t local than it has to be shipped which means more pollution and you have no idea how long it takes for that fresh food to travel to its destination. Read More

Every year we go through all the questions from other parents that just can’t believe that I don’t allow my children to go trick or treating. I personally do not understand what the question is. Why would I spend a fortune on some goofy costume my child is going to wear one time so that he can go walking around in the dark, knocking on strangers doors to collect candy that may or may not be safe for him to eat? I just do not see the point of Halloween to begin with. Dressing up and going to haunted houses and watching scary movies…it is all just a little bit too much on the evil side of things for me. I don’t want to spend my time on those type of activities and I don’t want my children to either. And they certainly don’t need a pillowcase full of candy to gorge themselves on.
Now, before everyone thinks that I am the meanest mom in the world for not letting my poor babies celebrate this strange holiday (and I use that word loosely), I do. They each get to pick out their own bag of candy from the store, so they actually get what they want and there is much less chance that anyone has messed with the candy. Then, we all have a special night together with one of their favorite dinners like pizza or something and rent movies or do something else fun together. So, they get their candy in a limited amount, and they get a special night with mom and dad all to themselves. We stay off the computers, watch what they want on television and just spend the night together as a family.
While I was searching for some fun things to do this year, I found this fun recipe for some good healthy food that looks like it would be fun. I am going to give it a try this year and see how it goes. These little goblins look fun to make and fun to eat and are good and healthy on top of it. Doesn’t get any better than that!
